Thy Mighty Contract (1993)

Mid-paced Hellenic heavy metal melodic style, played within black metal spirit and framework. Drum-beat is mostly steady, but subtly shifts to provide dynamic contrast. The high point is the bands uncanny ability to play simple melodies, without any major breaks in tempo or tonal shifts, no flashy or distracting passages, but still have the ability to ensure that there are shifts in mood and underlying theme. Subtle and patient build ups, stacking momentum slowly, allowing for timely crescendo or resolution of both theme and mood. Dark and sonorous in concept, and passionately uplifting in its application. There is certainly a "Mediterranean warmth" to these unholy compositions.
