Dolorian

Dolorian (2001)

Dolorian - Dolorian

Like watching the dark clouds gently move around, sometimes a ray of light protrudes their engulfing dreariness, but more often than not the chance of a storm building is a higher realisation; this fairly well describes Dolorian, a journey into the dark, gloomy storm clouds of existence. Alluring, thoughtful arpeggios subtly change, moving slightly to shift the mood in our subconsciousness, often building to moments of dark crescendo that resembles a cosmic storm in its other-worldliness, until suddenly it again floats away into the black night sky. We are again left, alone, to observe our silent, insignificance against the mammoth backdrop. It's as much about reflecting on the inherent beauty of this peaceful (but darkly psychedelic) atmosphere as it is finding that ray of sunlight (or starlight) shining through the darkly lined canopy of life's sky.

Voidwards (2006)

Dolorian - Voidwards

Soft psychedelic visions emanate from gentle, but alien arpeggio passages, luring and enticing with dark promises of riches beyond the threshold. Thunderous rhythmic reversions storm throughout the choral sections and confirm with nightmarish absolution that the depths of the darkness now ventured hold nothing but forlorn memories of a long lost existence. Fragments of reality. And so the cycle goes, spiralling between these two contrasts of hoping / desiring and despondency / death, a never-ending gridlock drawing in a hungry soul, only to rend it apart in inescapable torment and conflict. And so are the parallels between Voidwards and life...
